(A TRIBUTE TO OUR CAV SCHOOL DONORS

Over the past years our donors have had the foresight to recognise the importance of CAV’s Chinese School in shaping the culture of young Chinese Australians in Victoria, and on the 31st July 2021, we would like to recognise your contributions to the Chinese School.

Our children often find themselves as outsiders within the Australian school environment, and the pressures are incredibly high for them to discard their cultural identity in order to fit in. The CAV’s Chinese School has therefore been a “safe space” for them to be both, Australian as well as Chinese, and encouraging of the two cultures for them to draw upon. Our students have a better understanding and respect for people from diverse cultural backgrounds, making them more tolerant and flexible in everyday life in Australia.

In 2021, the School Building Fund (SBF) helped fund 2 new school buildings consisting of an additional set of classrooms as well as a new library/parent’s lounge, where parents can wait or chat with other parents while their children are in class.

Come for a tour of the school, meet old friends and see where your past donations have gone to, and what the school has been up to, this past few years.

Date: Saturday, 31st July 2021  (Note NEW DATE)
Time: 4:30pm followed by dinner at the CAV Hall
Tickets   $100 of which $50 is for Dinner after the Opening Ceremony of the CAV New School Buildings and $50 will be a tax deductible donation to the SBF. Dinner will be an informal affair with a variety of hawker food stalls to tantalize your taste buds!

If you would also like to donate to the SBF to ensure continuity of the CAV school, you can make a pledge online here: Online Pledge Form.

We look forward to seeing you there on the 31st July!

The Challenge:

How do we ensure that the next generations of Asian Australians will have good cultural core values and an appreciation of the multicultural environment that we now call home?

How will our children learn to be multilingual in Chinese and be prepared for the future?

With Your Help, We are Making The CAV Chinese School a Differentiator for our Children

Extra learning on weekends is tough. But it helps build discipline, a good work ethic and instils good cultural fundamentals in our children – which they are not likely to get in the public schools.

Learning language skills, ethics and family traditions in a fun way improves their social emotional learning skills and prepares them for a future in which they will stand out as well rounded and mature adolescents on their way to being global citizens.
