Our fund raiser is back again this year!
In 2020 I came across a new company in Melbourne that made Malaysian Style “Bak Kwa” (or in Cantonese, “Long Yoke”). Long story short, the company uses Australian pork and a Malaysian recipe to make the Bak Kwa.
I had to try some, so I ordered a kilogram of Bak Kwa from them. It was so good that I immediately ordered another 4 kg on the day that I opened the first pack. Aside from being a tasty snack, they make wonderful presents to friends and family. I have personally ordered at least 10kg over the last year or so.
Casey Wong, the owner of the company, Wan Li Xiang (WLX) told me that their manufacturing process took 7 days from start to finish, including hand barbecuing over a charcoal fire. This gives it that authentic taste that we all recognise as Singapore/Malaysian “Bak Kwa”. WLX’s “Bak Kwa” contains no MSG, preservatives or food colouring, and comes in vacuum sealed bags.
Before WLX sold out for Chinese New Year, we managed to squeeze in another 100 kg order for CAV to do some fund raising. They are selling the Bak Kwa on their website for A$65 a kg, but with a $16 delivery fee. CAV will be selling 1 kg of Bak Kwa at $70 per kg, if you pick it up from CAV, thus saving you $11.
