The School Council
A big warm welcome to all our teaching staff, students and parents in particular our new students and parents for choosing our School. Our School is a unique one. We aim not only to teach Chinese language but with more emphasis on Chinese history, culture, tradition and morality. We have a holistic approach as we know the fact that not every of our students will proceed to VCE. However they will learn something useful in life when they leave our School. We are also unique that through the hard work of all past and present EXCO and members, supporters, we are able to build and own our School and CAV Centre. That give us more opportunity to do the things we want for the benefit of our students and parents.
We celebrated Chinese New Year on 13 February 2011 with our students, parents and other members and children of CAV in our own School Hall for the Year of Rabbit. Children and parents all have a good time with some story telling and game sessions followed by two beautiful lions dance performance. To finish up for the day, all children present received a red packet and a bag of goodies. It was a memorable and enjoyable occasion for all. On behalf of School Council I wish you all have lots of happiness, success and good health in the coming year.
School Council is a voluntary group made up mainly of parents and staff to assist the Principal and the School in general. We are there to assist new parents to get involved with school activities. One of the activities is our Canteen service which provides food for our students and parents too during school recess and other school activities when food is being served. I am pleased to annouce that we have a new Canteen Manager and he is Eric Yee to replace Lillie Giang. Lillie has been in charge at least for last three years while I am the Chair of School Council. We cannot thank her enough for her past contribution. She also promises to stay in School Council as a support to Eric when required. We have also just recruited two new parents Mr and Mrs Ronnie Wong and Mr and Mrs Roy Eng to help in the School canteen. Thank you all for doing such a good job on Sunday.
Recently we successfully erected a partition between the Office and classroom one during School holidays. It provided much needed extra space for our Office and staff. I must specially thank Fui Keong Yong and his musketeers Robert Labberton and Greg Matulich for building them plus Ramona and Zhiming who helped to sort out and rearrange all office stuff etc. And one day including myself, this team literally worked all day from 9.30 am till 10.00pm to get all done in shape ready for the new School year.
I am grateful that we have such dedicated supporters like Fui Keong, Robert etc who are not even in the School Council, to help the School all year round when required. We are always looking for new blood from the parents, old and new, to join us. If you have some time to contribute, your assistance will be put to good use for the well being of your children in School.
I am also grateful to EXCO under capable hands of Lillian and Rex , for paving the Courtyard, keeping our School ground tidy and cleaned up the side of the School recently so that it will be safer for students to run around and play.
Last but not least if any parent has any good idea to improve the School including teaching and learning, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help and listen.
