Cultural Dance

The aim of the CAV Cultural Dance Troupe is to preserve and develop an appreciation of classical Chinese Dance and to represent the CAV at many community events.

Ramona Chua played a key role in getting the Cultural Dance Troupe many years ago. Under her guidance and with the support of parents, the small fledging group blossomed into the very popular CAV Cultural Dance Troupe, participating in festivals and community events, which up till today, still exist, with an adult group introduced in 2008.

Our current dance instructor, Shu Hua Shieh, is a professional dancer in both cultural and fitness dance.

During the last decade the Troupe have performed in most of the CAV major events and a multitude of community and charitable events in Melbourne receiving many plaudits for their performance and behaviour in representing the CAV. Some of the highlights are as follows:

  • CAV celebrations (Chinese New Year, Mooncake Festival, and many other festivites)
  • Chinatown Chinese New Year celebrations
  • Kingsway: Glen Waverley Chinese New Year Celebrations and a lot others.

Our Cultural Dance Troupe is currently being run by Shalin Lim, with the help of Ping Tiong, Christina Lee and Sue Huang.
