Canteen
Can you believe that tem 1 is almost over? Enrollments have continued to rise and the canteen staff have been kept very busy supplying morning tea for hungry students. Our fund-raising activities have continued to go well and the principal is intending to purchase more LCD projectors with these funds.
This term we have kept our food preparation simple. We have offered students dim sims from the steamer and curry puffs and chicken nuggets from the oven. Our fryer has been used to prepare hot chips and potato cakes. We have also offered a selection of sweets. Drinks and icy poles have been popular on the hot days and we have also offered a selection of fruit. Next term, as the weather cools down we intend to prepare fried rice, noodles and home made soup. The canteen staff are there to look after students and parents, so if you have some suggestions regarding the food you would like us to supply, please feel free to speak to us at any time.
By now you should have received a notice from your child requesting help with canteen activities. If you are able to help, please return this form A.S.A.P. to the office. Your participation will turn your Sunday morning at C.A.V into a social occasion. We are sure that you will enjoy helping out and are certain that you will be very welcome. Your child will also enjoy having mum or dad serving them and all their friends at morning tea time. This will help make Sunday morning school fun for everyone.
On the 28th of Feb Lillie and I had the pleasure of doing a cooking demonstration at the Knox Festival. Lillie prepared rice paper rolls and I did our canteen special fried rice. The M.C. for the event was the well known Melbourne comedian, George Kapinaris. Our food was well received by the crowd and all samples were quickly consumed. Not only was this great fun, but also a perfect opportunity to promote the school. Next year we intend to run a food stall which will turn this event into a fund raiser as well as a promotional event.
Sandra Wu and the School Orchestra and Cultural Dancing Group also attended the Knox festival. Their brilliant performance was a credit to them and a wonderful promotion for the school.
Finally I would like to express our thanks to the following people:
Sompoch (Bon) Nuntasukkasem for his donation of calendars for all the school children and Canteen Volunteers. They were greatly appreciated by all.
Parents, Wengnie and Chee Chian for donation of the rice cooker. We are thrilled to have such a nice cooker for the approaching winter.
Lillian Lai for donating ladles and tongs. These will be a great addition to our collection.
EXCO for the new stove and microwave. We will put them to good use.We look forward to seeing you all in the canteen in Term 2.
Lillie, Greg, Marissa, Eric, Zen, Christine
PS Please look out for our Mothers Day stall.
