Mrs Susan Gin – CAV President

Susan Gin is a Foundation Member of CAV, a past EXCO Vice-President and Secretary. A qualified lawyer, she practiced in commercial law at Melbourne city firms and natural resources law at Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton. This included a stint in Rio’s London Office. She was responsible for securing ATO’s  Deductible Gift Recipient Status for the School Building Trust Fund. She has stepped back from legal practice to manage the family’s investments and medical practice. With a long involvement in community service, she has held leadership positions on committees at Scotch College, the Advisory Board of Australian Asian Business Women’s Association, Music Society of Victoria, to name a few. She currently sits on Melbourne University’s National Ageing Research Institute Foundation Committee and is the Founder and Chair of Executive Wealth Circle, a networking platform which facilitates integration of business migrants with the broader Australian community. She hopes to bring her experience to raise the profile of CAV and continue to progress the proposed CAV land development.


Mrs Shirley Teh – CAV First Vice President

Shirley Teh worked full time at Monash College as an Assistant Accountant and spent all her spare time volunteering duties for CAV. She has now retired from Monash College and is working part-time at a medical clinic. Before joining CAV, she was the Treasurer of AAAV (Australian-Asian Association of Victoria) for 3 years. Shirley Teh joined CAV in 2008 as a committee member; she was given the portfolio of Membership registrar. She revamps the membership files starting from inception in 1982, introducing membership numbers and membership cards. From 2009-2013, Shirley was the Vice-President of CAV Exco and in 2014-2015 she became the President of CAV. While being President of CAV, she hosted Hon Julie Bishop twice at a reception to welcome all Chinese migrants to Australia. Shirley was awarded the CAV Honorary Fellows in 2016 and will be a member of the HF Board. In 2017 Shirley was also invited to join the CAV School Building Trustee Board.

Shirley Teh was presented the Individual Volunteer Achievement award by Hon Alan Tudge MP and was also the winner of the Aston Community Award in 2016. The Aston Community Awards celebrate local volunteers and community groups who give their time, skill and energy to helping others and making the Knox community a better place to live.


Mrs Jenny Yanli Chin – CAV Second Vice President

Jenny has a background in banking and financial services. After graduating from Melbourne University and spending her early career as a lawyer, she worked at Axa Asia Pacific and National Australia Bank, most recently spending nearly 3 years in Hong Kong establishing a new business unit. She has been involved in community organisations such as the Fitzroy Learning Network and recently completed the Australian Institute Company Directors course. She hopes to contribute to CAV’s objectives and broaden cross cultural community engagement.



Mr Iwan Jusuf – CAV Third Vice President

Iwan migrated to Melbourne in 2012 with his wife and son from Indonesia. He was a graduate from Monash Uni in 2005 and fell in love with this city. Iwan has been with the IT consulting industry for over 18 years and he is now running a signage and printing business. Iwan is a very devoted Christian, loves God and his family.

He is also very passionate with travelling and cooking. This is Iwan’s 3rd year with CAV EXCO and he hopes to contribute more for CAV with his skills and expertise. His goal with CAV this year is to streamline CAV’s technology so that it can deliver benefits to all CAV members as well as the wider community outside our organisation.



Ms Jessica Lau – CAV Secretary

Jessica Lau is a Chartered Accountant with the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. She is currently Senior Manager at RSM Australia, one of the largest mid-tier accounting firm locally, and number 6th in the world. She has extensive years of professional experience across industries such as health & aged care, property, manufacturing and membership organisations. Recognising the growing need for better integration between Australian and Chinese businesses, Jessica had established and is currently chairing RSM Australia’s China Practice Group, a national initiative focused on helping Chinese businesses wanting to do business, or expand in Australia; and conversely, Australian businesses wanting to do business in China. Jessica has hosted various delegations of senior Chinese business executives in Australia. During 2017, she had participated in a business leader delegation visit to China’s major provinces. She has key alliances across the Asia Pacific region through RSM International member firms and various networks.   An excellent communicator and leader, Jessica is passionate about fostering the relationship between Australian and Chinese communities.  She looks forward to contribute to the continued success of the Chinese Association of Victoria.


Mr Mark Tyssen – CAV Assistant Secretary

Mark Tyssen joined CAV in 2015 and has been a great help to CAV in many aspects. He has helped CAV in technology implementation, supporting our IT and is a very important person when coming to CAV maintenance services. Mark brings with him a lot of his skills and experiences from his past committee work with various organisations. Professionally Mark has a vast experience in Project and Quality Management in many industries.

He has a B.AppSci and MBA qualifications. He is also a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner. Mark also enjoys 4WD activities, being a member of the Subaru 4WD Club of Victoria for over 25years. Mark has quite a mixed cultural heritage. His father is Dutch, his mother is from Negri Sembilan and his grandmother is Portuguese/Malay/Chinese. His wife Joyce is from China.



Mr James Kwan – CAV Treasurer

James joined CAV as a Treasurer in 2015. He is a CPA & CIMA qualified accountant with well over 15 years of experience in his profession. James commenced his professional career in a Chartered firm before moving into a senior finance role in the Motor Industry. He currently works as a Senior Finance Manager in a Global Facilities Management company leading in various value adding projects including supporting the overseas expansion into Asia.

James enjoys time with his two children, plays competition basketball on weekends, practices martial arts (Wing Chun) on weekdays and in between ensures time is given back to the community through charitable work. Of course, all of this wouldn’t be accomplished without his strong and supportive partner.



Ms Helen Chau – CAV Assistant Treasurer

Helen joined CAV Exco in 2015 as Assistant Treasurer. She has been involved with CAV for many years having studied Chinese at CAV School for 8 years and being a member of CAV Lion Dance Troupe for 7 years.

Helen currently works at a Facilities Management company as a Graduate Management Accountant. She enjoys going on road trips with family, spending time with friends, going to the 1000 Steps with colleagues weekly and solving Sudoku puzzles.



Ms Diana Lin – Public Relations Officer

Diana Lin is a banker with over 25 years of banking experience in Australia and China. Prior to immigrating to Australia, Diana held a senior position as Director of Sales in major Chinese Banks.

Diana holds degrees in Bachelor of Finance, Bachelor of Economics, and is a recipient of a CFP – Certificate of Financial Planning, and Certificate of People Leadership in Banking.

She was the Treasurer of the Australian Asian Business Women’s Association, and a current Advisory Board Member of the highly regarded Executive Wealth Circle. She is currently Branch Manager at National Australia Bank, and takes particular pride in mentoring up and coming bankers into leadership roles. Diana has developed a strong reputation for offering exceptional client service and client relationship.

Diana has an interest in community service and has forged strong networks among the Chinese Australian community in Melbourne. She aims to bring her connections to assist CAV in building relationships with the wider Chinese community organisations.


Mr Daniel Loh – CAV Executive Committee Member

Daniel immigrated to Melbourne in the early 90s and is currently living with his family of four. His wife Enri is an IT professional who migrated with him from Penang. Daniel has been involved in property marketing and project management consulting business for more than a decade. He and his family have been involved with the African orphanage sponsorship and voluntary works for many years. He is also very much part of the CAV family, the platform he believes enables us to uphold the Chinese Culture and Chinese language in Australia. Besides work, family and CAV Exco, he is also involved as committee member in the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Victoria (CCCV).




Mr Simon Soon – Committee Member

Simon joined CAV in 1987 and he is also a CAV Life Member and a Honorary Fellow. He was the President of CAV in 2005 and 2006. He has served CAV and many Not For Profit Organizations in different capacities, as President, VP, Treasurer and Secretary. Simon graduated from Monash University as an Engineer and he has a Master’s Degree in Acoustics. Most of his career life, however, was spent in IT as an Executive CIO in three different corporations in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.

He is also a member of Leadership Victoria and has won many awards in business and community services. Since retirement, he has made the decision to come back to assist CAV as he has a lot of experiences and skills to offer, he is keen to mentor the next Generation of CAV leaders and ensure that CAV have proper governance for CAV operations.

His wife Melanie has been a great supporter for his community services and he has three working children who were all CAV Chinese School students when they were young.


Ying Zhang – Committee Member

Ying Zhang joined CAV in 2007. She has been helping CAV as an Exco member since 2014. She is also on the School Council and has helped CAV on many cultural events. Ying Zhang is our Prep Teacher and has been a Teacher for over 10 years. She has a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Swinburne University and a Certificate in Language Teaching from Monash University.
